LM Restaurant
4539 N Lincoln Ave
Chicago, IL
Our second trip to LM. They've added a new head chef and have decided to do a different 4 course tasting menu each month to correspond with a different region in France. We're very excited and plan to go to each one.
LM DECOUVERTE MENU - La Provence
LʼEntree
Salt Cod Brandade piquillo pepper puree, brioche, olive oil
This was very light and fresh, you could really taste the cod. Nice Starter. Similar in texture to tuna salad, but with just a touch of creamy.
Le Poisson
Seared Monkfish slow cooked fennel, bouillabaisse, basil pistou
after Bouillabaisse added
Bouillabaisse poured tableside making for an elegant presentation. Excellent sear on the Monkfish. When the plate was set down the scent of freshly roasted fennel was prominent and immediately comforting. The fresh basil pastou really brightened the dish. Bouillabaisse was incredibly tasty with layers of flavor.
La Viande
Seared Duck Breast ratatouille, lentils, glazed leg confit, jus
This was an incredible dish. We both really enjoyed it. Great sear on the duck breast, incredibly tender leg confit. Paired with a grenache and merlot (we each had a glass of one of them). There is absolutely nothing bad either one of had to say about this dish. This dish alone would have you come back for more.
Le Dessert
Tarte Tropezienne
This is one of the things that reminds us of why we love tasting menus. Neither one of us would have chosen this off a dessert menu, but that is our shortcoming. This dessert was so tasty and really went well with the Muscadet wine we had (Thanks Thad). The peaches were fresh and flavorful, the almonds gave it a great unexpected crunch, the cream had a great fresh vanilla flavor. A truly rich and satisfying dessert - seriously - who needs chocolate???
