2012 - Girl & the Goat

Decided to head back to Girl & the Goat for some another round of small plates. This time we had a beautiful Sunday to enjoy AND we found street parking - BONUS!

We decided to order items we hadn't had before and decided on the following:

Hiramasa Crudo : crisp pork belly. chili aioli. caperberries. This was probably the best dish of the night and Sue was actually hesitant to order it because it was raw fish. Lovely flavors.

Grilled Baby Octopus : guanciale . romano beans . radish . pistachio-lemon vinaigrette. This was probably our least favorite. The salad part was good, but the octopus might have been a little over as it was chewy. The vinaigrette was delicious.

Chickpea Fritters : stewed apple-tomatillo . prairie fruits chevre. Very tasty and great crispness and texture.

Braised Beef Tongue : masa . beef vinaigrette . salsa verde. Another really good dish, especially with all the components together. Sue really liked the flavor of the masa.

Goat empanadas : romesco . kohlrabi-endive slaw. Another solid dish. This goat dish didn't have any gaminess whatsoever to it. Very good and well executed.

We decided that champagne/sparkling wine would be a pretty good accompaniment Unfortunately our first choice was a cava, but they were out, so we actually wound up with Poma Aurea Sidra de Austurias - a Spanish Cider.

We also had the Ham Frites: smoked tomato aioli . cheddar beer sauce, but we didn't take a picture, because, well they were french fries, yummy crunchy hot fries, but everyone knows what they look like. We have to say we preferred the smoked tomato aioli over the cheddar beer sauce. The cheddar beer sauce wasn't very flavorful, but the smoked tomato aioli was extremely flavorful.

Good times overall.
