The journey was long and required more patience than either one of us knew we had, but we have achieved a 20+ year old goal of owning a home in Hawaii.

The first night was exhilarating and busy. Between Walmart, Target and Costco, we completely filled up our rental car with "necessities".

We're the garage straight ahead on the left.

The "necessities" included the following (*alcohol not pictured to protect the innocent):

The first few days consisted of running from store to store in town looking for furniture, trying to rent a truck at Home Depot, only to find that it's not in service. Then had to try to find the Uhaul store, so we could rent a moving truck just to get a ladder and a "real" tv for our unit. It's surprisingly a lot of work to furnish a house from scratch. Having lived in the same place for 20 years, plus being close enough to relatives to get hand me downs and cast offs, you forget these things. On the Brightside, we were clocking 15k-20k steps every day.

After about a week or so, our place morphed into this:

Living/dining room

Master bedroom

Master Bath

Guest Bedroom

Guest Bath

Kitchen

It's amazing that this house can actually exceed our expectations but it has. It's not finished yet. There are minor tweaks still left, blinds, art, etc, before we'll be ready for primetime, but we're close.

I'm so happy we did this and can't wait to go back.
